Following her lifelong hobby on from her childhood in South Africa Joy left home at the age of 17 and went on to spend much of the past 13 years honing her skills whilst working and travelling with her older sister Love between New York, London and through much of Europe.
Joy trained with the likes of Vidal Sassoon, Aveda, L'Oreal and took part in every hair show and practical work shop available to her until finally settling in Dublin and starting her career in Whetstone nearly 8 years ago. After managing the salon sucessfully for 4 years Joy had the oppertuinity to take over Whetstone and with the help and support of her boyfriend at the time (David Halpin) she was able to buy the company and take over the business completely. |

As an officially trained Aveda Technician, Joys expertise in cutting and colouring, along with her Artistic Team, has enabled her to continue to train and advise all her staff members to the highest standards, encouraging them all to reach their goals.
Joy is involved in the fashion side of hairdressing too with photo shoots and major fashion events including the 2006 Ryder Cup and the Miss Ireland beauty pagents, Joy also spends a lot of time in London collaborating with the Aveda Academy in training programmes, shows and seminars bringing new and inspired ideas back in to the salon to keep all her staff motivated.
